Capital Projects Win Regional Awards
The American Society of Civil Engineers honored the San Diego County Water Authority a 2020 Award of Merit Water Project for the Pipeline 4 Emergency Repair in Moosa Canyon. A section of Pipeline 4 in North County was successfully repaired and brought back to service when a leak was detected in Moosa Canyon in Fall 2019. The Water Authority installed a carbon fiber liner to give the pipeline several more years of service, while a longer-term solution is developed and implemented. The awards ceremony planned for May was postposed to October due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The work was a testament to the Water Authority’s proactive asset management program.
“San Diego has been a leader in the water portfolio approach. We have to make the investments to build regional water resilience as part of the Governor’s order to develop a portfolio to manage water in California.”
